    Make sure your skimmer weir door is functioning and set the directional wall returns to create a circular flow and your pool will stay clean (aside from a weekly vac/balance). These robotic cleaners are not the answer. Trust me, I fix pools for a living.

    • @RickEscalante
      @RickEscalante Месяц назад

      I'll take the first two tips, but politely disagree with the third. The robotic cleaner makes the workload much easier and has been for 10+ years! Manually vacuuming is no fun at all!

    The 3 selection lights are actually for the run frequency, not the run time. 1 = Daily, 2= Every Other Day and 3= Every three days or twice per week. The selection is good for 1 week and then has to be reset.

    I have this cleaner and it's amazing. I have a fiberglass in-ground pool and it cleans up the sides and the waterline. The only place it doesn't clean is the beach area and like you said, the top step. I got the fine filters plus the leaf bag but since I have a pool cage nothing big gets in to my pool so I use the fine filters. I'd recommend this cleaner to anyone.

    I just received a Dolphin Premier recently, and have run it through a few cleaning cycles. I like it for the most part, but one problem I've had is that although it is able to climb walls, it doesn't climb high enough to reach the waterline. Have you ever had this issue, or do you have any insight? Thanks in advance!

    • @RickEscalante

  • @michellecoleman7642

    Hello Rick. I am a bit confused by the cycle settings that you said were for 1, 2 and 3 hours. Mine runs on cycle 1 for 3 hours every day for 7 days and cycle 2 every other day for 3 hours? Haven’t used cycle 3 yet. Poolbots said that each cycle is for 3 hours not for 1 hour, 2 hours only 3 hours even if you just press the power button. Hope this makes sense?

    • @RickEscalante
      @RickEscalante Год назад

      You are absolutely correct. Those settings determine how often the machine runs, not the duration.

    Super thorough review. I just purchased the premier and will say instructions are sparse. The float position is very absent, as is the fact that the screen needs to be removed when using the cartridges? Been running it a month and left it in, no idea why it needs to be removed though, I go back and forth between bag and cartridges without a problem. I will add that the previous dolphins with baby bags were better at removing algae, but the cartridges are easier.

    • @RickEscalante
      @RickEscalante Год назад

      Thanks for the response! I agree about the 'picture book' instructions. Hopefully they'll improve these. Since I've moved to Florida, I always leave the machine in the pool and only take it out of the water to clean the cartridges. I've been exclusively using the ones that look like air filters. Few leaves so I rarely need to use the bag filter.

    Great review. Although it does seem like a lot of work to take it in and out of the pool every day especially with a cord. Considering the price, If you need to take it out every day (which i read that you absolutely should), i think a self contained vacuum (no hose) or a suction side vacuum is a better option for convenience in my opinion.

    • @RickEscalante
      @RickEscalante Год назад

      Valid points. With my new pool I actually leave it in all the time and only take it out to clean the filters. The timer function is basically designed for this type of use.

    The problem I had with my old Dolphin was that it only had a bag to catch debris. That was OK until you take it out of the pool. Then all the debris fell out f the bag and back into the pool.

    Nice! We just got a Dolphin Wave 120 I believe but haven’t used it yet but can’t wait on our competitors pool. I suggested we need training on it due to the cost of it (a little under 6k) but looks fairly simple to use. I would vacuum what I would call the “old school” way using a unit by a brand called Harmsco but last week the motor just took a dump. Also the vacuum hose does not lock and in and swivel causing it to lose suction sometimes. Also coiling up badly once our old unit began suction. Oh, and putting it together and taking it apart was such a hassle and time consuming taking me about an hour doing both. Like I said, can’t wait to use ours, gave your video a like and subscribed.

Thanks again, well done. Including the additional purchase items was helpful. I appreciate the tips on the remote and the thermometer. I thought hooking the go pro made it an added value. thinking about getting one as well. Pool express with the caddy is a better price than amazon prime!!! thanks for that plug. 🙂 Btw, I LOVE your storage shack you made. Looks professional. Well done!

    DEAR MAYTRONICS CUSTOMERS PLEASE READ ABOUT THEIR SERVICING AND PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE SCAM LEARN FROM MY EXPERIENCE: Maytronics will not sell you the carbon brushes for the main DC pump motor of their robots. This means that as a consumer you CANNOT prevent the main pump motor from failing after a few years. A carbon brush is a $10 consumable part to keep a DC motor running. This means that when you pay for a “service” they do not exercise due diligence and replace the carbon brushes while inside the control box. This means that after a few years the robot will cease working no matter what you do. THEY WILL however sell you an entire new motor, or an entire new robot... Buyer beware. You can buy brushes for your ryobi angle grinder, your Makita drop saw, your cars internal blower fan, you can buy them from the manufacturer for just about ANY dc motor, but Maytronics refuse to sell the brushes, and will only sell (via the service reps) you the diagnostics fee, an entire new motor and replacement costs. Any questions please don’t hesitate to ask. Please ask why these were not replaced ANY time your robot is serviced. Absolutely DISGUSTING business practice. If this isn’t planned obsolescence then what is!? They will also make excuses that their system is modular unlike the competition somehow justifying this scam. They are happy to sell you an entire new robot for 2.5k, or the entire assembly, when a $10 consumable part would very likely keep the motor going and irrespective should be available for sale via the service reps and should be replaced ANY time the motor box is opened for paying customers.

    Hi Rick, Excellent review; Very thoral and informative. I am deciding between Dolphin Premier and Sigma. I do not have mamy leafs but mostly sand, silt and algae in my pool. Pool has glass mosaic waterline tiles in both infinity and spill over pool compartments. Pool itself is: 60’x8’ and 5’-2” to 5’-6” deep with mosaic glass tiles taking about the half of the walls’ height. Did you test Dolphin Sigma? Which of these two would you receive for my pool? I hope you will respond to my inquiry and give me your opinion on which unit is better for my application Footnote: Pool is longer than 50’, but the electrical outlet is about 10’ away from the middle of the pool, so I do not expect to have a problem with cord length.

After 8 cycles my pool is still dirty from where it has not touched. My pool is basic rectangular, 8 ft to 3 ft vinyl lined in ground. Am I missing something here ? Is there an adjustment I’m missing? I don’t see anywhere that there is any adjustments. Probably going to return it at this point, complete waste of money.
